For Cultural Heritage

Ever since it was founded, ELLET has viewed the manmade environment as being inextricably linked to nature. Protecting and promoting Greece’s cultural and natural heritage is vital for the country’s development and deserves to be a priority.

Ellet’s hard fought successes include the declaration of the entire Tatoi Estate as a preservation area, exemplary restorations of Byzantine monuments, the preservation of the Plaka district in Athens, and the ancient tower in Kea. Ellet continues its battle to preserve traditional towns and villages across Greece. Ellet has also worked for the preservation of important monuments outside Greece such as the Campanile of San Giorgio dei Greci in Venice, of the 6th c., St Pandeleimon in Cappadocia and of the medieval refectory at Sinai.
