Bourtzi – Achilleio:
NO to turning monuments into commercial products!

Athens, 27/3/2025
The news about the invitation of the Hellenic Property Fund and the State Development Fund to real estate investors, including Bourtzi and Achillion, has once again brought to the fore the issue of the trivialization of our cultural heritage.
The transfer of these precious monuments, as well as many others, to the Hellenic Property Fund has turned the testimonies of our cultural journey into commercial products available for business exploitation to the highest bidders. From this point of view, it is irrelevant whether our monuments are sold (a fact denied by the Minister of Culture and the Hellenic Property Fund) or given to businessmen on long-term leases or otherwise. The result is exactly the same, devaluation and distortion of the nature and destination of our cultural heritage.
Our monuments are not the private property of the State to be made available through the State Property Fund and the State Treasury for fund-raising purposes. We call on the Government to immediately rectify this disastrous memorandum error and to return our monuments to the only one responsible under the Constitution for their administration and protection, the Ministry of Culture.
