GREAT NEWS!
Polyaigos has been declared an archaeological site in its entirety.
We welcome the decision of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports (MoC) as a clear and substantial step toward protecting the island — one of the last untouched habitats in the Mediterranean, included in the European Natura 2000 network and designated as a landscape of exceptional natural beauty.
This decision comes just days after the mobilization and public complaint by the Milos Local Committee of the ELLINIKI ETAIREIA Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ELLET), which promptly informed the media and relevant authorities.
Special recognition is due to the president of our Local Committee, Dr. Anezina Solomonidou, and vice president Babis Bilinis for their initiative.
ELLET continues its work aiming to promote cooperation between the State and Civil Society for the effective protection of our environment and cultural heritage!
